The Cursed Videotape

The idea of a cursed videotape has been in existence for a very long time at my home in New Orleans, LA. It is a different version from both movies, The Ring, and it's Japanese predecessor, Ringu...

I heard the legend of a videotape that will kill you within forty-eight hours after watching it at a bonfire when I was younger. The story behind the legend is that these college girls are having a slumber party and go to rent a video at a local dealer. The girls cannot agree on a film, so one of them asks for help. The clerk states that she has just the thing and disappears into the back room.

Meanwhile, one girl sees a box-less tape laying on the counter and reaches toward it. Just then, the clerk comes out from the back and tells her not to touch it and hands her an older film. The girl asks about the first tape, and the Woman tells her that it is just a home movie. The girls agree to rent the tape that the Woman suggests. While they are checking out, the girl who asked for help swipes the "home movie" tape.

Back at their house, the girl tells the others about the tape she swiped and they laugh, telling her that she is dumb for stealing some Woman's home movies. Still, they ask her to play the tape. She puts the tape in and then the power goes out -- but the television stays on.

The video starts playing and shows a black Woman being burned for practicing witchcraft and hoodoo. She utters a curse that all who witness her death will face the same fate in two-days time. The VCR begins to make skipping sounds and then cuts off. As promised, the girls died forty-eight hours after watching the tape. They all met their demise in unrealistic places such as the pool or ice rink.

Didn't have any idea either, not watched the ring either, but thanks to Mara i have the dvd now so i'm gonna check it one of these days.

oh man that movie scared the living crap outa me!! i cant even think about it now! but its a really awesome movie. have fun with that Draztic! try not to watch it alone or you'll get traumatized...okay you'll get traumatized either way. ahahha

the ring ???? scary ????? mmmmm , i liked it very much but to say it was that scary , naaah , atleast not to me , lol

Well I saw the movie The Ring, and there was nothing scary about the movie in my opinion, well ok 1 part but it was not the movie but my father in law he can scare the crap out of me some times

oh he's one of those guys that says BOO at the really scary parts eh? hahah that reminds of a story my friend just told me yesterday. he said a long time ago someone gave him a Chuckie doll and he never saw the movie but he kept the doll anyways. anyhow one day his cousin came over and was watching Chuckie and he was a really HUGE fan of this movie. so my friend decided to get his chuckie doll and put some ketchup on his face then put him on a chair and very quietly place him behind his cousin...anyhow he went to sleep and left him alone with the doll....

the next day his cousin was SOOO traumatized! my friend told him it was just a joke but this guy was messed! he told them that after the movie he turned around and saw chuckie next to him and lost his mind! he didnt scream but went into shock cuz he thought THE DOLL WAS REAL hahahahahahah!! he just went upstairs to his room and slept in fear the whole night! AHAHAAAA so hilarious! this is a grown man too! he was messed up for days! suficit to say he HATES chuckie now! ahahahaha

dang i would be screaming and banging on doors for help to find out what the heck was goin on! this guy just accepted this doll was real and tried to go to sleep...fearing this thing was gonna break into his room and kill him! ahahahaha what a crazey guy!

He could be scared to death the poor guy, but yes my first reaction was laughing, until i realized how dangeroes this joke could be.

yeah, youre right, i honestly think he had serious mental trauma from that one. my friend said he wasnt the same for days! okay now i feel like laughing again im so horrible lol! okay i'll try that again sorry, yeah like he couldve gotten a heart attack or something..but he was young so i dunno bout that one..why, what do you think coulda happened?
